The Current State of Saudi Arabia’s Food Policies

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) is the largest country in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) with a population of 36.4 million in 2022 (World Bank) and a land area covering 80% of the Arab Peninsula. Similar to the United Arab Emirates and other Gulf countries, the climate is arid, and hot, making it difficult to produce food naturally which means KSA relies mostly on imports to feed its population.
